Who doesn’t love Chinese Egg Rolls, but it is a trying task to make them at home. There are a lot of recipes out there for “Egg Roll in a Bowl,” but I wanted to try something a little different…and it was a SUCCESS! This Perfectly Imperfect dish is has everything but the Wonton wrapper. Turkey Burgers are already a delicious and healthy meal, but add in Chinese ingredients and flavors, and you end up with an amazing new take on a traditional Summer favorite!!
PREP TIME: 10-15 minutes
COOK TIME: 15 minutes
SERVINGS: 4 Burgers
ingredients
Burger
- 1 lb Lean Ground Turkey
- 1/2 Onion (chopped)
- 1 Garlic Clove (minced)
- 1 TSP Ginger (grated)
- 2 TBSP Soy Sauce
- 1 TBSP Sesame Oil
- Cracked Pepper to taste
Topping
- 1 TBSP Avocado Oil (or equivalent high heat Oil)
- 1/2 Onion (chopped)
- 1 Garlic Clove (minced)
- 2 Carrots (grated)
- 3 cups Cabbage (shredded)
- 1 TBSP Rice Wine Vinegar
- 2 TBSP Soy Sauce
- 1 TBSP Sesame Oil
- 2 Scallions – green parts only (finely chopped)
- 4 Burger Buns (toasted)
Garnish (optional)
- Mayonnaise
- Chili Oil
- Sesame Seeds
- Sriracha/Chili Paste
instructions
- Mix Burger ingredients together in a large bowl. Divide into 4 equal parts and form into patties.
- Line a Broiler Pan with Aluminum Foil set Broiler to High. Evenly place Patties on Pan and put directly under the flame and cook for 5-7 minutes per side.
- While the Burgers are cooking, heat Oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onions and saute for about 3 minutes.
- Add in Garlic, Carrots, and Cabbage. Stir for 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in Vinegar, Soy Sauce, and Sesame Oil. Mix thoroughly and continue to cook another 5 minutes. Top with Scallions.
- Layer Cabbage with Burger on your choice of Toasted Bun and garnish with Mayonnaise, Chili Paste, and Sesame Seeds. ENJOY!!
